Barcelona + Sostenible

Compost is the product of the natural decomposition process of organic matter and is mainly used as a natural fertiliser for plants and to structure and oxygenate the soil in the garden or allotment. The compost offered to the Network is obtained from organic vegetable waste from municipal parks and gardens.

Mulch is the layer of wooden organic material that is placed on top of garden areas or orchards to protect them from the weather, retain the humidity of the soil or prevent the appearance of adventitious plants, among other things. In the current situation of climate change, it is a key resource for optimising water resources and protecting crops. The mulch that is offered to the Network is the shredded, wooden remains from the pruning of trees in Barcelona.
