Joining the More Sustainable Schools network
All schools wishing to tackle the climate challenges facing the city in a collaborative way within the framework of the More Sustainable Barcelona initiative are invited to join the network of organisations and members of the public who have signed the Citizen Commitment to a More Sustainable Barcelona.
The More Sustainable Schools programme gives participants the chance to join the network with different types of commitment. For example, schools wishing to take part in order to network and learn and find out about other experiences without carrying out their own project under the programme are also welcome. And, in addition to networking and learning from other schools, schools that do submit a project under the More Sustainable Schools programme will receive material and financial resources and be eligible for early registration for training courses, exchange forums and events, among other benefits.
To become part of the network, you must do the following:
- Sign the Citizen Commitment to a More Sustainable Barcelona using the online form.
- Attend an information session in which we’ll reflect on the culture of sustainability and explain the resources available to you and the common framework of the network. This will help you decide the extent to which you want to commit and start taking the necessary steps to join. Although this session is not mandatory, attendance is recommended.
Further information and registration
We encourage you to join our network to face today’s challenges, rethink the current situation and seek solutions to improve the educational community, and by extension society as a whole, from a social and environmental perspective.

By signing the Commitment to a More Sustainable Barcelona, schools make a public commitment to sustainability and/or, through their project, to setting goals and taking action with a particular focus on the central role of students, inclusion in the school curriculum, improving the environment and working as a team, among other priorities.

Schools wishing to submit a sustainability project must carry out the process during the third term of the school year. If a school wishes to join the network but decides not to submit a project, it can sign the Citizen Commitment to a More Sustainable Barcelona at any time during the year. To help with this process, we recommend that you attend the information session that is held every school year. Check the dates of the next training sessions.

To help you write and submit the documents, projects must be drawn up and submitted using a dedicated application called “Project Editor”.
