General Call for Subsidies 2023
On 16 December 2022, the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona (BOPB) published the general call for grants for district and city projects, activities and services for the year 2023. In this edition, the thematic area of Science and Universities (line Y of the call) has a budget allocation of 400,000 euros.
The deadline for applications is from 9 to 26 January 2023 inclusive. It is important to note that any application submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. In addition, it is compulsory to submit the application electronically. It is also essential that the activities applying for the grant are carried out in the municipal district of Barcelona, from a district or city perspective, or outside this if they are considered to be of interest for the external projection of the city, are non-profit-making and are carried out within the year covered by the call for applications or the 2023-24 school year, if so specified in the thematic area for which the application is being made.
Line Y - Science and Universities
Projects submitted under strand Y - Science and Universities may be submitted in one of the following four categories:
Ya) Organisation of congresses and scientific and academic events in the city.
The aim of this modality is to subsidise activities and costs related to congresses and other scientific and academic events (conferences, seminars, presentations, etc.) of particular relevance to the city. These activities are mainly focused on an academic and research audience, to publicise or discuss new developments and other issues related to research or academic knowledge, beyond the fact that they may be open to the general public. Projects submitted in this category may receive up to a maximum of 15,000 euros.
Yb) Science education, scientific culture and research dissemination
The aim of this modality is to subsidise proposals for innovative projects, actions and/or activities for the dissemination, education and scientific or research culture, which are carried out in public spaces, cultural, scientific and/or educational facilities and which incorporate the values of Socially Responsible Research (SRR) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Applicant projects may also consist of periodical or one-off publications to promote scientific education, culture and dissemination. The maximum amount of the grant will be 10,000 euros per project.
Yc) Art and science
The aim of this modality is to subsidise projects that highlight the interrelationship between science and art. The projects will have to take into account artistic languages in interaction with more scientific and technological languages in order to confront, discuss or problematise common challenges of our present. The maximum amount of the grant will be 10,000 euros per project.
Yd) Support for research activities on urban challenges of the city.
The aim of this modality is to support, through the subsidising of specific activities or needs, relevant research projects and groups that develop their research based on participatory methodologies (citizen science, living labs, citizen laboratories, etc.). The maximum amount of the grant will be 10,000 euros per project.
