Citizen Science in Schools
The Citizen Science Office and the Barcelona Education Consortium are organising a programme to introduce citizen science in schools.
Teachers and students from schools in Barcelona are taking part in a 15-hour pilot programme to work on a number of real scientific research projects in Barcelona. The educational community is in contact with scientists from different research centres and universities to learn about the scientific method of sampling, how to use mobile and web applications to collect data and analyse the results. In addition, teaching hours are also dedicated to extending the work in the classroom and proposing and carrying out actions based on the conclusions.
Participants in each course are selected according to their interest through the Barcelona Education Consortium's call for applications. The distribution of the projects by educational centres is as follows:
