GeotHErmAl energy as a Tool FOR groundWATER remediation in BarCeloNa
The project aims to investigate the suitability of the use of Low Enthalpy Geothermal Energy (LEGE) to enhance the degradation of organicPMOC compounds found in Barcelona's groundwater. The proposal addresses the challenge of increasing the city's available freshwater resources and promoting the use of renewable energies, such as geothermal energy. The objective of the project is to be achieved through (1) the collection and analysis of groundwater samples, (2) numerical modelling of the LEGE+IAB systems and (3) dissemination activities focused on different audiences. The study is approached from the fields of geo-engineering, hydrogeology and organic chemistry in aquatic environments.
