Frailty in older people increases the risk of negative health events. Its early detection, approach and multidisciplinary management, especially incorporating physical activity and balanced nutrition, have proven to be effective in reversing it. In 2016, the +AGIL research-implementation programme was launched in a Basic Health Area (ABS) in Barcelona, based on a comprehensive and coordinated approach between primary care, geriatrics and community agents through an individualised intervention for frail elderly people in the community. The positive impact of +AGIL on frailty at 3 and 6 months, including in people with cognitive impairment, has laid the foundations to start adapting and implementing the programme in three new ABS in the city. However, since the urban characteristics of the environment can modify physical activity patterns, it is necessary to take into account the social and physical environment of individuals. Thus, we identified the importance of urban friendliness in order to keep the older population of Barcelona active. Our aim is to define and conceptualise an index to assess urban friendliness towards older people in areas of Barcelona with different socio-economic levels. Therefore, we propose 1) To define and conceptualise, by means of participatory decoding techniques with the different agents involved, an index of urban friendliness towards the elderly, 2) To evaluate the applicability and feasibility of use of the developed index, 3) To develop the map of urban friendliness of the ABS involved, 4) To compare the urban friendliness maps of each area, 5) To disseminate the results among the actors involved in order to propose possible solutions, and 6) To create a digital twin for the elaboration of a synthetic cartography to show the friendliness indicator.
