A reading club to connect science and literature

Club de lectura - Ciència en la literatura
12/09/2023 - 09:56 h - Science Ajuntament de Barcelona

Reading is recognised as an activity that enriches minds and transports us to other worlds. In this case, if it is related to science, the possibilities and horizons multiply. The Sagrada Família – Josep M. Ainaud de Lasa Library and the Les Corts – Miquel Llongueras Library are opening a reading club to bring together people with scientific and reading interests. This space serves as a vital platform for literature lovers, offering a unique opportunity to delve into different scientific topics by reading a selection of books that includes both well-known works of literature and popular books.

In the world of literature, science is a stimulating dimension that allows us a broader understanding of the world around us. During these sessions led by Bibiana Bonmatí you will discover works such as Estimades màquines (Dear machines) by Carme Torras or La ciència en la literatura (Science in Literature) by Xavier Duran, readings that highlight the fascinating interrelationship between technology and human emotions. You will also delve into subjects as diverse as the environmental crisis, social ecology, the oceans, generations, the brain, among others.

It should be noted that the meetings at the Les Corts – Miquel Llongueras Library will start in January 2024 and registration will be open at a later date. All the reading club sessions can be requested if you have a library card and will have seven sessions, although this number may vary in exceptional circumstances.
