• What is considered an action for sustainability?

  An action for sustainability is any already implemented initiative that implies an improvement in terms of sustainability and that goes beyond compliance with current environmental regulations. They are relevant and exemplary actions that bring added value to the Network, due to their transformative or innovative nature or their capacity to be extended or replicated.

  The actions for sustainability are classified according to the priority area of action of the Citizen Commitment for a More Sustainable Barcelona on which they are based:

  1. The climate emergency
  2. Loss of biodiversity
  3. The health of the planet and people
  4. The food model
  5. The production and consumption model
  6. Access to housing
  7. Safe, sustainable and healthy mobility
  8. The energy model
  9. Water management
  10. The cultural and educational model

  Particular emphasis is now being placed on sustainability actions that contribute to the two collective challenges that have been prioritised: decarbonisation and water conservation. Also included are the actions of Barcelona’s Zero Plastic Commitment.
• How can I become inspired to take action? Where to start?

  Organisations that want to take action but need accompaniment can do the following:

  • Ask for a personalised assessment from the relevant technician.
  • Consult the sustainability actions of other organisations on the portal decidim.barcelona.
  • Use the PAS tool, a self-diagnosis tool in sustainability that makes personalised improvement proposals based on the characteristics of the organisation or activity and provides a collection of resources for further improvement.
• How can I plan and assess my actions for sustainability?

  In order to take action in a planned manner, More Sustainable Barcelona has made available a planning document that allows the actions for sustainability to be set out and followed up during the year. Once the year has passed, this document will become a report that can be attached as an annex to the sustainability action to be published on the decidim.barcelona platform. Using this document modal is totally optional.

  In addition, the Technical Secretariat offers the possibility of individualised assessment.

   

  For organisations that work with partners (on a double scale), publishing the report is necessary to inform about all the actions carried out by their partners.
• Where are sustainability actions published?

  The actions for sustainability are published on the platform decidim.barcelona. With all the actions of the Network, an annual photograph is created of everything that the members of the More Sustainable Barcelona Network do to improve the sustainability of the city.
• How do I register on the decidim.barcelona platform?

  To register on the decidim.barcelona platform, you can read through the following manual.
• What information must be provided?

  Once you enter the decidim.barcelona platform, you have to fill in a sustainability actions form with the title and a brief description of the action, the starting date and an illustrative image, among other things. Additional information and evidence that this action has been carried out may also be attached.
• What procedure must be followed?

  You must be registered on the decidim.barcelona platform, access the “Actions for sustainability” section and publish one of the actions carried out.
• How do I know that my sustainability action is already published correctly? 

  Once the action has been posted on decidim.barcelona, the More Sustainable Barcelona Secretariat will review it, validate it and notify the author.

  If the action has not been validated, the Technical Secretary will contact the organisation to explain the reason and offer support to modify it.
• What is the deadline for publishing sustainability actions? 

  Every year, a space will be opened on the decidim.barcelona platform to compile all the actions carried out. Organisations can post one or more actions that they wish to highlight and share publicly.

  This space will be open from 1 January of the current year to 31 March of the following year.

  In the case of organisations that work with partners (on a double scale), once they have drawn up their annual report, they can publish the actions described in the report between 1 January and 31 March of the following year.
• What is the validity of the actions for sustainability publications?

  Once the sustainability action has been published on the decidim.barcelona platform, it will be valid for one calendar year.
• What are the advantages of publishing actions for sustainability?

  Publishing actions for sustainability enriches the collective knowledge of the network. Moreover, it gives you access to the “Let’s get active” space and all the associated benefits. Check out the resources and benefits associated with the “Let’s get active” space.
• How many actions can be published?

  You can publish as many actions as you want, but it is recommended not to publish more than three per organisation per year. The aim is to disseminate the most outstanding actions: those that are innovative, that have had the greatest impact or that can inspire other organisations. If you want to explain everything that has been done, you can attach the organisation’s sustainability report.

  Organisations are also encouraged to present new actions every year.
