More Sustainable Barcelona Citizen Commitment
The current common reference framework of the More Sustainable Barcelona Network is the More Sustainable Barcelona Citizen Commitment 2024-2034. It is a brief, strategic document that reflects the More Sustainable Barcelona Network’s desire for and aspirations to achieve a more sustainable city that is responsible for the local and global impacts of our lifestyle. It is also an expression of the individual and collective responsibility of the organisations and people who are members of the Network and the commitments made to help make a better future.
The document summarises the current situation and the history of the More Sustainable Barcelona Network, argues for the need for social change, identifies the priority areas of intervention in Barcelona and specifies the commitments and the demands to be made of the institutions.
It is the result of a painstaking diagnosis and a far-ranging participation process that has been guaranteed by Barcelona's Citizen Participation Regulations. The contents are based on the portrait of the city drawn up following the doughnut economics model in 2022; the results of the 2022 Citizens' Climate Assembly; meetings of the More Sustainable Barcelona Network; and sessions of the Citizen Council for Sustainability. It will be enriched in the participatory process carried out in the first few months of 2024, which is open to all interested organisations and individuals.
