The cycle Biblioteques Expandides (Expanded Libraries) is a new line of work by the Espai Avinyó in collaboration with the city's library network, Biblioteques de Barcelona. The goal is to broaden the narrative of the city’s public libraries through their bibliographic collections, the topics worked on, the type of activities and their ways of engaging with the community, all from an intercultural perspective.

In the first session, we’ll be taking various publishing initiatives by collectives of migrants and racialised people in the city to reflect on how racism operates in the world of publishing. What changes can we make in terms of literary production, translation and distribution to make creation possible and access narratives of self-representation? What role should public libraries have in this sphere?
