Black Man Solo is a personal piece that delves intimately into the conformation of the masculinity of the black man in various contexts. Pareu de parar-me (Stop stopping me) is the artistic interpretation of the theatre company No es País para Negras for the campaign "Pareu de parar-me”, by SOS Racisme, showing and denouncing the reality of identifications based on racial profiles.
Based on some extracts from these pieces, reflection is invited on the historical construction of imagination based around racialised masculinities in our context. How does racism operate in the construction of masculinity? What are the material and symbolic consequences of this construction in our lives? And what are the key points for approaching this field without continuing to reproduce stigmatised logics?
