This year, the choreographer and performer Vero Cendoya, fronting the company named after her, is presenting her new work Cicatrius (o contrapàs de mamuts i altres feres) [Scars (or contrapas of mammoths and other animals)] at the Mercè festival.
The show combines dance and theatre with six dancers and a live musician to turn the scientific process of healing wounds into movement while asserting the idea of scars as a mark of identity and the footprint of a body’s battles.
Inspired in ancestral dances and collective rituals, it shows how people as a group need to cure individual wounds, both physical and emotional. A choreography that highlights vulnerability as a form of empowerment.
