The districts of Sants-Montjuïc and Sant Andreu receive the Visión Zero Municipal award
These awards recognise territories with a population of over 100,000 people where there have been no deaths caused by road accidents. They also back up the idea that reducing road accident deaths to zero is not a utopia, but rather a reality which public administrations are working towards on a daily basis through road safety policies.
The Association of Traffic Engineers and Mobility Technicians, with the collaboration of the Smart Mobility Forum, gives the Visión Zero Municipal awards every year, recognising municipalities and districts with a population of over 100,000 inhabitants and achieving zero road accident deaths in the preceding year.
In the case of Barcelona, the districts of Sants-Montjuïc and Sant Andreu did not record any fatalities resulting from traffic accidents on their roads in 2023.
The awards are being given today, 20 September, at a ceremony in Valencia, with an intendent from the City Police attending to receive the distinction for the two Barcelona districts.
