Tour de France to start from Barcelona in 2026
This will be the first time the city has hosted the start of the Tour de France, the most important cycling event in the world. The first three stages of the 2026 race will all take place entirely on Catalan soil.
The Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, and the director general of the Tour de France, Christian Prudhomme, signed the official agreement establishing Barcelona as the location for the Grand Départ del Tour de França l’any 2026, one of the most important sporting events in the world.
Cycling enthusiasts will be able to enjoy watching the best cyclists on the international scene as they make their way around the most iconic points in the city.
Barcelona has regularly hosted stages of La Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, one of the oldest cycling competitions in the world, as well as La Vuelta 2023, a competition that returns to the city after sixty-one years for its first two stages. With the designation of Barcelona as the starting point for the French cycling event, the city strengthens its position as an iconic space for major international sports competitions.
