The reader for DdTag codes, the smart colour-coded tags similar to QR codes, found at bus stops and metro stations, is one of the new features included in the new TMB app, available since June and which has seen increased usage since then. This reader allows users to scan the code at bus stops or metro stations to check timetables or waiting times. The codes can be read from a distance, from any angle, and even while in motion, offering useful information about the service. In June, there were 9,000 scans using this tool, a figure that increased to 18,000 in September and exceeded 25,000 in October, confirming its growing use and efficiency.

TMB presented the results of the first few months of the new app during the Tomorrow Mobility World Congress. In addition to the success of the DdTag, the number of users of the new app has increased by 20%, surpassing one million users. The TMB app was already the most used in Barcelona, and with its new version, it remains the leader. Visitors to the TMB stand at the congress can learn more about the new app, which includes additional sustainable mobility options, such as the bike-sharing service.

In fact, before the launch of the new app, it provided information about the TMB metro and buses, as well as data from other operators such as Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat, Rodalies, TRAM, and AMB buses. The new app also includes complementary routes for walking and using personal or shared bicycles. With the new app, users can sign up for and use AMBici, and also access information about Barcelona’s Bicing service, as well as services offered by Cooltra, Bolt, and Donkey Republic.

Moreover, the information from other metropolitan public transport operators has been expanded, now including real-time data on arrival times. As a result, the TMB app has now become an integrated mobility platform equipped to gradually incorporate new services.
