Enforcement campaign to avoid distractions when driving
The campaign will focus on driving offences linked to a lack of concentration while driving or riding vehicles, the inappropriate use of mobile phones and not respecting traffic lights and pedestrian priority.
It is worth remembering that the use of headphones and mobile phones is not allowed when riding bicycles, cycles or any other type of personal mobility vehicles (PMV).
Distractions while driving or riding vehicles, mainly from using mobile phones, and not respecting traffic lights constitute one of the main causes of accidents.
Improving road safety forms one of the strategic areas of the Urban Mobility Plan 2024. Because of this, the City Police are working towards the goal of halving fatalities and serious injuries, as set out in the Road Safety Strategy 203, with a view to reaching zero road deaths in 2050.
