New bike lane section open in Gran Via between the streets of Mir Geribert and Mossèn Amadeu Oller
Users can now circulate in the new bike lane section in Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, between the streets of Mir Geribert and Mossèn Amadeu Oller, in the district of Sants-Montjuïc.
Two one-way bike lanes have been created on the road surface of the side lanes, to the right of traffic. These are two segregated lanes with their own traffic lights. The new section replaces the old two-way bike lane on the pavement on the side of the road nearest the mountains, the aim being to gradually shift bike lanes off pavements and onto road surfaces to make them safer.
The next few months should also see the opening of the bike lane section in Gran Via between C/ Mineria and Pl. Ildefons Cerdà, completing this entire route. Once completed, this new cycling infrastructure will connect Gran Via with the cycling lanes in the streets of Mir Geribert and Mineria, Ctra. la Bordeta, Pg. Zona Franca and Pl. Ildefons Cerdà.
The work on the second section of the bike lane in Gran Via, between C/ Mineria and Pl. Ildefonso Cerdà, will entail various traffic disruptions on Sunday, 29 October, owing to surfacing and painting work.
