42'S GRAND COMBAT OF THE ILLUSTRATORS: ROUND TWO
A combat featuring the scribblings, ingeniousness and humour of some ofthe best illustrators in the genre? That's right, and for the second year running, 42's Grand Combat of the Illustrators is loosely inspired by the one at the Angoulême Comic Festival and adapted to fantasy genres. Make no mistake: they won’t be showing how well they can draw here. What Danide, Oriol Vlak, Elsa Velasco, Laia Baldevey, Cesc Dalmases and the artist who created this year-s 42 poster, Maria Picassó, will have to do this time is to quickly find graphic humour and come up smelling of roses from the conflicts set by the hosts and creators of the event, the artists Marina Vidal and Ricard Efa. We momentarily take these illustration professionals away from their desks and screens, where they work their magic, and get them on stage for a spontaneous, fun evening. Remember, on stage anything can happen: they may have to draw while dancing or complete the most embarrassing task they have ever faced in a very short space of time. Only one may be left, which is why it’s a combat, and collaboration from the audience is allowed!
