Maria Picassó

Maria Picassó (Manresa, 1983) is an architect by training and a cartoonist by vocation. While her career has been very varied, she currently specialises in editorial and commercial illustration. She has illustrated books by genre literature mainstays such as Georges Simenon and Ursula K. Le Guin, and is a frequent collaborator with sci-fi and fantasy publishers. Her award-winning cover for the classic Dune (Free Dunes, 2022) is among the highlights of her work. With a geometric vector style, Picassó distils reality to its most readily identifiable essence. Her use of shapes and colour gradients provide a striking and timeless look. Her work has also been published in media such as El País, Forbes and the Washington Post. In the world of video games, she has likewise worked with international horror, fantasy and science fiction franchises such as The Walking Dead and Star Trek. Picassó is also the designer of the graphic image and posters for the third edition of Festival 42.
