New uses of the marine platform
The Marine Platform, with a surface area of 8.4 hectares, is the last stretch of the seafront that remains to be developed. The current planning qualifies six hectares of green space systems and two hectares of facilities system. The platform’s subsoil is made up in most of the area of rubble and filling. There is also an area that coincides with the continuity of Rambla Prim, where the sewage collector is located. These characteristics make it necessary to think about foundations suitable for these conditions.
In addition, the platform has strong environmental conditions, derived from its exposure to the coast and its proximity to the sewage treatment plant. It is currently closed to the public and is used only occasionally for large sporting or cultural events.
This section not only plays a fundamental role in achieving the desired continuity of the seafront, but also plays a key role as a connector, as a green corridor and as an open public space for maritime uses. In addition, the potential for diverse civic uses, mainly for walking, sports and culture, make this area one of the strategic points for improving the city's habitability.

The drafting of the preliminary design for the marine platform and the final project is expected to be put out to tender in 2025. The modification of the plan to transform the Mar Bella seafront promenade to protect it from storms involves setting back the wall and moving the Can Aranyó-Agapito Fernández municipal football pitch from its temporary location to a permanent location at one end of the Fòrum Marine Platform.
