Matinades de Grallers

On 24 September, Barcelona wakes up to the sound of the Matinades de Grallers, flooding the Ciutat Vella District with vibrant festive sound. This morning ritual begins in the plaça de la Mercè, and ends in plaça Sant Jaume, marking the start of the Matí de Festa Major. Grallers and Tabalers (gralla players and drummers) from the giant groups, castellers, beasts and falcons fill the streets with the Toc de Matinades, a symphony of tradition and joy running through the streets of Barcelona.

The Matí de Festa Major is a day full of festive spirit, where Trabucaires, giants, big-heads, the Seguici Popular and castellers come together in a huge celebration that unites the people of Barcelona.
