Faces

16 September - 18 December 2019

A reflection on the distinctness of faces and their representation in objects. What do the gazes of the images give back to us?

The image of a face tries to make the absent present. It may seem that representing the face of the gods is an impossible task, given the difficulty in reflecting the divine in a physical medium. But isn't it just as complex to show another human being through an image? Although the other is shown through their gaze and features, their face never fully reveals who they are. Face to face, whether it be with a god or a human being, the other comes before you as someone different, the otherness that interpellates your own identity.
