Pla Litoral

The inauguration of the Diagonal-Besòs Campus, or Llevant Campus, of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) took place in September 2016. The model of this campus is based on research and innovation that is geared towards the productive sector. Its main objective is to become a hub for productive economic activity in areas of knowledge and sectors that are strategic for Barcelona and Catalonia.

This university infrastructure is expected to encompass a total of 13 buildings within a potential developable area of 150,000 m2. Its intended uses will be teaching, research, technology transfer, providing services to the university community, entrepreneurship initiatives arising from the Campus and companies linked to its thematic areas.

In the southernmost area of the block that forms the Diagonal-Besòs Campus, at the height of Rambla de la Mina, there is an area of more than 10,000 m2 classified as 6b (newly created urban parks or gardens) that is currently occupied by a surface car park.

The Campus has the potential to become a new coastal hub and create synergies with the activities taking place in other areas along the seafront in Barcelona and Sant Adrià, such as the Port Fòrum. To achieve this, it is necessary to improve the connectivity of the Campus with the coastal corridor and turn the future Campus park into a benchmark green area of the coastline. 

The actions to be carried out are as follows:

• Incorporate the construction project of the structure below ground level to leave the free passage at an elevation of +7 and thus ensure the physical connection between the current urban development and the Campus park.
• Formalise a new pedestrian footpath between Rambla de la Mina and the Campus park.
• Adapt a footpath between the Campus park and the La Pau park, taking advantage of the passage under the Litoral ring road between Avinguda de Francesc Botey and Avinguda del Camp de la Bota.
• Incorporate the preliminary design for the El Camp de la Bota footpath to connect the main path of the Campus with Port Fòrum.
