TMB reinforces the service on two stretches of the V19 bus route at weekends

From Saturday 12 April, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) will run additional buses on two stretches of the V19 bus route Barceloneta – Pl. Alfonso Comín) at weekends and on public holidays to improve the service. Eight additional vehicles will operate on the route, on top of the regular bus service, and will run in accordance with demand. The measure will improve the frequency of the service on theses stretches of the route and will prevent crowding on the line. For the first few days, there will be information officers and signage at the affected bus stops.

The additional buses on the first stretch will run between the stops on Carrer de Praga at the junction with Ronda del Guinardó (Metro Alfons X) and ‘Avinguda de la República Argentina (Metro Vallcarca) with 4 standard buses with a capacity of 80 passengers per vehicle. The additional buses will run from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm.

The second stretch of the route where the service will be reinforced is between the stops on Passeig de Sant Joan at the junction with Carrer de Còrsega (Metro Verdaguer) and Plaça de la Rosa dels Vents (zona Barceloneta) where four articulated buses will run with a capacity of 120 passengers per vehicle. These additional services will run from 10.00 am to 9.00 pm.

Thr president of TMB, Laia Bonet, gave a positive appraisal of the measure and said: “This is a new initiative to improve mobility around Park Güell, one of the busiest places in the city, and also to regulate the demand generated at weekends between the area around Passeig de Sant Joan and the seafront.”
