Enlargement to the square in front of the Nativity Façade at the Sagrada Família
The remodelling project should transform the current C/ Marina, between C/ Mallorca and C/ Provença, with Plaça Gaudí growing to cover an area of 6,200 square metres. The project is part of the action plan for the busiest space at the Sagrada Família, regaining spaces for local people, regulating the flow of visitors and boosting local commerce.

The area will become a square made up of the extension to the park, acting as a meeting space and a prelude to the temple, the goal being to integrate local life into the area around the basilica and favour the flow of visitors.
The idea for the project comes from a circular design by Rubió i Tudurí in 1977 to connect the steps of the temple with the approach paths in the square with a radial system.
The project has been presented to local people and work will start in the autumn.
A neighbourhood for local people
The project for the high-influx area (EGA) at the Sagrada Família (2024-2027) is a comprehensive and cross-cutting initiative, entailing nearly 40 actions and an investment of 15.5 million euros.
The goal is to mitigate the impact of tourism and regain public space for local people, with measures that include regulating mobility and protecting local commerce etc.
Fifteen areas of this type have been defined around the city in all.
