Mostra de Balls de Gegants

In Plaça Sant Jaume, the morning kicks off with the majestic departure of Barcelona's giants, who'll have spent the night at the City Hall. Woken up by the vibrant sounds of the grallrs and trabucs (old fashioned blunderbusses used for festivals), these imposing figures kick off the Matí Geganter with a spectacular dance.

At the Mostra de Balls de Gegants (Giants’ Dance Display) you’ll be able to enjoy the classic plaça Nova Giants’ Dance, inspired by the tune of the baroque Ball de Santa Eulàlia, the Havanera de la Barceloneta, la Marieta de l’Ull Viu del Casc Antic and the Toc de Gràcia. Each dance, whether traditional or new, adds a touch of magic to the celebrations.

The morning will conclude with the Passada de Nans i Gegants, the oldest giants activity of the La Mercè festivities. The procession winds through the streets of the El Gòtic and El Raval neighbourhoods, filling the city with colour and joy. A festival that sets Barcelona aglow with an incomparable allure.
