The La Mercè Procession. Finish. Dances of the Eagle and the City Giants with the Barcelona Municipal Band

On 24 September, Plaça Sant Jaume becomes the beating heart of the festival, with the Municipal Band of Barcelona up on the stage, and the Eagle of the City with the Giants of the City in the middle of the square. This is a festive gathering that brings the authorities and the people together, all wanting to enjoy the dance of the Eagle and the Giants.

The mayor is the one to signal the start of the event, from the balcony of the City Hall. Only then do the Eagle and the Giants begin their dances, full of symbolism and tradition.

The Eagle, a symbol of justice and nobility shines in an ancestral dance revived from old traditions. Accompanied by the Municipal Band, who provide the traditional music, the Eagle and the Giants offer a spectacle that highlights the majesty of the festival.

Plaça Sant Jaume buzzes with rhythm, dance and excitement, celebrating the Mercè in grand and colourful style. A moment to be enjoyed, and to savour the essence of Barcelona’s big annual festival.
