EVA ESPINOSA’S POP-UPS: MAKE YOUR OWN FOLDING DRAGON, GRIMOIRE OR CEMETERY
A pop-up is a book illustrated with three-dimensional images that can be unfolded by readers, usually when they turn a page or press a certain tab. They’re often for children but not necessarily, and though they seem complicated, with the right guidance anyone can make them at home. And that’s exactly what author Eva Espinosa, a regular at the 42 Festival with her stories and novels, will show us how to do. Participants in this workshop will be able to choose one of three models for their fantastic genre pop-up: a dragon, in line with one of the themes of this year’s Festival, a cemetery or a grimoire. In this workshop, Espinosa will teach some 20 participants, equipped with the necessary materials, how to make valley and mountain folds, join pieces to covers, test the mechanics and ultimately come away with their very own fantastic pop-up.
