The 42 in secondary schools
Under the “Explosive readings” project, part of the “Reading action” programme, the city library network (Biblioteques de Barcelona) and seven secondary schools from different city districts will be taking part in the 42, Barcelona Fantastic Genre Festival, an event that revolves around science-fiction, fantasy and horror.
This initiative will see 473 secondary school pupils attending the festival in the 2024-2025 school year. Dragons are the central figures in this edition, with the festival devoting an exhibition to them and offering the chance to take part in workshops and talk to the authors whose works they will be reading during the school year. The project combines book club sessions, meetings with authors (national and international) and participation in a city festival.
This is a way of working with reading through significant experiences for students.
The works forming part of the project and linked to the 42 are:
- Misteris de la boira (Columna), by Selena Soro
- Ortiga i os (Raig Verd) and Què mou els morts (Obscura Editorial), by T. Kingfisher
- Negorith (Bridge), by Iván Ledesma
- Estimat Avatar (Fanbook), by David Cirici
- Bereshit (Fanbook), by Teresa Muñoz
- El cercle escarlata (Edebé), by César Mallorquí
The meetings with the authors will be held as part of the festival. This means the students will be meeting Selena Soro, T. Kingfisher, Iván Ledesma, David Cirici, Teresa Muñoz and César Mallorquí.
