Aleksandra Lun
Aleksandra Lun, born in Gliwice in 1979 and currently living in Brussels, left behind her native Poland at the age of 19 and worked in a casino to pay for her studies in Hispanic philology in Spain. Her first novel, Los palimpsestos (Minúscula), written in Spanish, was translated into English [The Palimpsests], French and Dutch, and received a PEN/Heim grant from PEN America. Her second, Química para mosquitos [Chemistry for Mosquitoes] (Galaxia Gutenberg), a novel about a girl living under nuclear threat in a former Soviet-sphere country, won her the 54th City of Barbastro International Novel Award.
