We are at a particularly good point when it comes to hybrid combinations of games and technology: role-play board games, game books, video games and so on go hand in hand ever more frequently to bring new leisure experiences linked to fantasy genres. One example is En las cenizas, a role-play board game played within a book with classic references to board games such as Descent, Mansiones de la Locura and Arkham Horror. This discussion goes beyond En las cenizas: starting with this example, Pablo Aguilera (author of the game) and the games specialist Antonio José Planells, will be looking at the evolution of these hybrid play-based models and discussing what we can expect in the next few years. Will the future be as revolutionary as it seems? What new formulas will games offer us in a few years?
