8,000 runners, the largest female participation in history and the beginning of the sportiest Mercè; the keys to the 44th edition.
After 10 kilometers of sweat, effort and perseverance through the center of the city, Cristina Silva (00:35:10) and Artur Bossy (00:30:01) have won the absolute category of the Cursa Merced 2022. As for the Cursa Inclusiva 2K MERCEDES 22', the 2 kilometer version adapted for people with disabilities or reduced mobility, Laia Fabra (00:17:06) and Iker Lorca (00:14:33) have climbed the podium as champion and champion of the modality.
However, Cristina Silva, Laia Fabra and the rest of the runners have broken the female participation record with 33% of the total of the 8,000 athletes who have flooded the streets of the Catalan capital this morning.
On the other hand, the award ceremony was attended by the mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau; the first deputy mayor, Jaume Collboni; and the Councilor for Sports, David Escudé, who has also delivered the donation, from the total collection of registrations, at the Fundació d’ELA Miquel Valls.
Although this year's edition has ended, the festival has just begun and there are still many events included in the program of the sportiest Mercè to enjoy physical activity in the city. Next Saturday, September 24, at 10:00 a.m., citizens are invited to participate in the Fitness Festival, the popular master class that returns to Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina this year.
