Urban Monasteries in times of War. Sant Pere de les Puel·les and Santa Clara de Barcelona, 1691-1718
The Museu d’Història de Barcelona (MUHBA) organises the exhibition Urban Monasteries in times of War. Sant Pere de les Puel·les and Santa Clara de Barcelona, 1691-1718, curated by the Servei d’Arxius de la Federació Catalana de Monges Benedictines (SAF). The exhibition is shown in the Chapel of Santa Àgata in MUHBA between 29 May and 14 September 2014.
Framed within the commemoration of the Tercentenary of 1714, this exhibition is a counterpoint to the exhibition The World of 1714, now displayed in the Tinell Hall in MUHBA. A vision of the conflict is now proposed, and particularly the attacks and sieges of Barcelona, from the perspective of two religious communities that lived the military conflict from the first line, since their respective monasteries were located next to the bastions of Santa Clara and Sant Pere, key scenarios of the final outcome of the siege of Barcelona in 1714.
