Traffic disruption in Barcelona due to the 2025 Barcelona Zurich Marathon

The road closures and restrictions on access to car parks will begin at 7.30 am on Sunday.

On Sunday 16 March, all roads on the marathon route will be closed to traffic frrom 8.30 am, with the closures affecting the Eixample, Sant Andreu, Sants-Montjuïc and Sant Martí districts. A range of bus routes will also be affected. The restrictions will be lifted once the race has passed. Due to the scale of the disruption, between 6.30 am and 3.00 pm, it is recommended that people use the metro.

The race will begin at 8.30 am on Passeig de Gràcia, between Gran Via and Plaça de Catalunya and finishes at the Arc de Trionf. Details of the complete route are available here.

The first restrictions in the area around the starting point will come into effect on Saturday at 1.00 pm on Passeig de Gràcia, from Plaça de Catalunya to Gran Via (the Besòs side up to Casp will remain open). At 6.00 am on Sunday, closures will come into effect on various stretches of the roads around Plaça de Catalunya, Plaça d’Urquinaona, Ronda de Sant Pere and Ronda de la Universitat.

At 6.00 pm on Saturday, some stretches of Passeig de Lluís Companys and Passeig de Pujades will be closed to traffic in order to assemble the cloakrooms.

At 9.00 pm on Saturday, Passeig de Picasso (Llobregat side) will be cordoned off and at 6.30 am on Sunday, the central lanes will be cordoned off to set up the refreshment station.

The most significant traffic restrictions and restrictions on access to car parks will come into effect on Sunday from 8.00 am and will be lifted once the race has passed. At 11.30 am, roads will open to traffic in the area around the starting point and the final restrictions will be lifted at 6.00 pm.

The parking restrictions will come into effect on Friday evening and will be fully lifted on Sunday afternoon. Always consult the signage on each of the affected streets to find out the times of the traffic restrictions.

Public transport disruptions

Due to the scale of the disruption, between 6.30 am and 3.00 pm, it is recommended that people use the metro for journeys in the areas affected by the race. You can plan your journeys using the Com s’hi va journey planner.

Car parks

During the race, there will be changes to the entrances and exits of various car parks.

  • BSM Barcelona Nord Station. Entrance and exit: Alí Bei.
  • Saba in Plaça de Catalunya. Entrance: Plaça de Catalunya (sea side). Exit: Bergara (opposite direction).
  • BSM Marina Port. Exit: Avinguda Litoral (opposite direction).
  • Port Olímpic Car Park. Exit: Avinguda Litoral (opposite direction).
  • França Station car park. Exit: Avinguda Marquès de l’Argentera, Pg. Circumval·lació.
