She holds a Degree in Telecommunications Engineer from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Her positions include Co-Founder and director of the ELLIS Alicante Foundation – Institute for Human-Centric Artificial Intelligence –, Vice-President of ELLIS Europe, Chief Data Scientist at Data-Pop Alliance and Chief Scientific Advisor to the Vodafone Institute. She has authored more than 180 scientific publications and, according to Research.com, is the female computer science researcher with the highest impact score. She is an advisor to several European universities, the European Commission and governments on AI-related issues. Her work has received international recognition through numerous awards.
