Urban planner

He is a full professor of Urban Planning and Urban Policies at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies, Politecnico di Milano. He has served as City Planning Councillor for the City of Milan and as Vice-Rector of the Politecnico di Milano.

He has chaired the Association of European Schools of Planning, the National Centre for Urban Policy Studies Urban@it and the Italian Society of Urban Planners. He is the author or editor of 22 books and numerous articles and essays on urban planning and urban change. His publications include Post-Metropolitan Territories: Looking for a New Urbanity (Routledge, 2017), Situated Practices of Strategic Planning (Routledge, 2017), Risk and Resilience (Springer, 2020) and Cities Learning from a Pandemic: Towards Preparedness (Routledge, 2022). He recently edited the 57th Annual of the Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation, entitled The Invisible City: What We Do Not See is Changing Metropolises (Feltrinelli, 2023).
