El Passeig de Gràcia
Passeig de Gràcia, 80
The city's most imposing avenue was originally a carriage road (the former Camí de Jesús) which led from the walled city of Barcelona to the neighbouring town of Gràcia. Its urbanisation began in the early 1800s and by the middle of the 19th century it was already full of theatres, ballrooms and attractions. The Cerdà Plan turned it into a showcase for the best Modernist architecture.
