Clavé 2024 Commemorative Bicentenary Concert

This year, the Cors Clavé are celebrating in style! 200 years since the birth of Josep Anselm Clavé, the visionary who launched the Moviment Coral Català, and changed the history of music in our country. And to do just that, what could be better than revisiting his masterpiece: the Zarzuela L'Aplec del Remei.

Set in Caldes de Montbui, and the first ever to be written in Catalan, this zarzuela was first performed to great acclaim at the Liceu Theatre in 1858. Now it's back in concert format at La Mercè, with the same joy and edge of social criticism as always. A show where love, humour and protest come together in an entertaining piece that even today still speaks to us of justice and freedom.

Accompanied by the voice of Brigitta Lamoure, and with a cast of singers such as Sol Vicente, Jaume Casalí and Montserrat Bertral, the concert version of this work promises excitement, smiles and a special memory of the genius from Barcelona. All will be taking place under the guidance and baton of Bruno Nájera, conductor of the show and chair of the Federació de Cors de Clavé.
