What can go beyond the circus? A truly different show from Australia and France opens the 2013 Grec Festival to the sound of Shostakovich's string quartets. A company that has triumphed around the world returns to Barcelona, a city that has taken them to its heart.
The circus is richer, deeper artistic territory than we thought. This Australian company renews its language through tradition to present an experience aimed at the eyes, the heart and the mind. Their innovative shows create a world of acrobatics, movement, light and music. The unutterably beautiful acrobatic numbers that you will see on stage form part of a dance choreography, but what does that matter in a spectacle where each discipline transcends its borders to seek a common space? They seek the circus as a rich artistic territory that can fill audience and performers alike with emotion. In this case, fourteen artists from Circa will feature in a show built around the string quartets of Shostakovich. The music will be played live by Quatuor Debussy, the first French ensemble to record all fifteen quartets, as well as amazing audiences in Paris by playing them all in a marathon concert lasting nearly ten hours.
