A key name in the fusion music scene returns to inject us once more with the "poison" of pop, flamenco and rock as he revisits his trademark sound in a fresh yet melancholic journey.
José María López Sanfeliu, aka Kiko Veneno, blazed a trail in the fusion of pop and flamenco music, producing an essential disc for understanding the music of the late-70s: Veneno. Kiko has never since strayed far from his chosen path but now, thirty-six years later, he revives the talent and energy of that album and others that have made him famous, such as Échate un cantecito, imbuing his new work with the maturity and dexterity accumulated over the years. The result is an album produced by Raül Fernández, Refree, who regularly works with such artists as Sílvia Pérez Cruz and La Mala and here helps Kiko Veneno to create new sonic worlds, new musical textures. The new release fuses flamenco and pop sounds with African resonances, rock landscapes and even features tracks in Catalan (“No cal patir”, for example). A sweet and melancholy sound forged from experience and a fresh new look at today’s music.
