The great master of ancient music explores the sounds heard in the Balkans today in this homage to the city of Sarajevo, twenty years after the siege.
Many years have passed since the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina was surrounded and subjected to a cruel siege, one of the longest in recent history. Thankfully, Sarajevo has been reborn after the bombs, and music can be heard there once more. What music? Let us find out at the hand of Jordi Savall, the Hespèrion XXI ensemble and a long list of guest musicians from Bosnia, Serbia, Turkey, Israel and Greece. Their repertoire will be a selection of music from cultural traditions found in the Balkan city today, ranging from Christian Catholic to Slavic, Orthodox, Turkish and Sephardic. This concert pays homage to a city that has long been a cultural crossroads and that now commemorate twenty years since the siege began in 1992, creating a wave of solidarity amongst the people of Barcelona.
