Compagnie XY, awarded the City of Barcelona Prize for Le Grand C, return to the Grec with their universe of human towers, but this time turn acrobatics into a language capable in itself of suggesting a universe of ideas and emotions.
Compagnie XY was one of the great discoveries for Barcelona audiences at Grec 2012, amazing spectators with their superb technique and the poetic quality of their human towers. Acclaimed by spectators and critics alike, these French artists who seem to take inspiration from the world of Catalan castellers, return to our city with a new production. This time they present a collective adventure in which they explore the relation between the individual and the group. They use a specific physical language for this purpose, acrobatics that “speak”, building up a narrative discourse capable of expressing ideas and concepts. The whole piece takes the form of a great game in which forms take changing shape like moving pictures. Il n’est pas encore minuit... is the collective creation of a group of 22 acrobats joined, on this occasion, by the dancer and choreographer Loïc Touzé. Apart from acrobatics, the show includes dance, more specifically lindy hop, which plays a special role, linking individuals and generations, becoming a collective meeting-point that also leaves space for individual improvisation.
