ROUTE 42: FANTASTIC GENRES IN BARCELONA
For the second consecutive year, the 42 Festival is offering the chance to visit part of the city through the lens of fantastic genres, in every sense of the term. After all, the Catalan Countries are home to a rich genre literature tradition, often with Barcelona as a protagonist. And so, following the success of the first edition, our non-realist/non-mimetic literature tours are back. Inés Macpherson will take us on a journey which, fittingly enough, starts with a Manuel de Pedrolo story that invites us to engage with the space of the city and with maps, and which continues with visits to several iconic city sites, such as the Ateneu Barcelonès, Cafè de l’Òpera and the Wax Museum. At each stop, we’ll explore how the works of classic authors such as Pere Calders and Mercè Rodoreda are linked to the city, without overlooking contemporary talent such as Antoni Munné-Jordà and Carlos Ruiz Zafón or emerging stars of the genre such as Marc Pastor and Roser Cabré-Verdiell.
