Manuel Vilas

Manuel Vilas, born in Barbastro in 1962, is a renowned, prolific poet and fiction author, finalist for the Planeta Award with Alegría [Joy] and the Nadal with Nosotros [Us]. His background is in Hispanic philology, and his works combine realist narrative with visionary imagery, using tools such as parody, pop icons and critical reflections on capitalism. Now, coinciding with the release of his autobiographical novel El mejor libro del mundo [The Best Book in the World], the same publishing house, Destino, will be reprinting his travelogue América, which features fantastic elements and is a perfect opportunity to discuss the hybrid nature of all his works at the 42 Festival.
