LEARN TO WRITE FANTASTIC FLASH FICTION AT THE 42 FESTIVAL
Are you a fan of flash fiction in science fiction, fantasy, horror and other non-realist genres? Fancy participating in this workshop by Carlos di Urarte? This two-part activity is simple. First, for 10 days from 28 October to 6 November, you can publish your Catalan or Spanish-language fantastic flash fiction in tweet format on X and Instagram, with a limit of 280 characters. To participate, include @bcnliteratura and the hashtag #microfestival42. On the day of the workshop, Friday 8 November at 4 pm, Di Urarte will share a selection of the flash fiction received, analysing the techniques used and offering tips for improving them. In the second part, Di Urarte and the participants will try their hands at putting a new spin on Monterroso’s famous flash fiction story El dinosaurio [translated into English as The Dinosaur], so everyone can come away with their own version. Sound easy? To get your creative juices flowing, you can think about some of the themes of this year’s Festival (dragons, water, science, folk horror, social media and video games)... and then get to work honing your imagination!
