HOW TO DRAW DRAGONS, ACCORDING TO THE GREAT CIRUELO CABRAL
You can’t talk about drawing dragons without mentioning the art of Ciruelo Cabral, an Argentinian living in Sitges and one of the names that comes to everyone’s mind, consciously or not, when trying to imagine how to portray a dragon in a fantasy epic. Cover artist for George Lucas, illustrator of the dragon Saphira in Paolini’s Eragon and creator of the images for Magic cards, rock albums, books and films, this craftsman who has exhibited in Milan, Beijing and the United States will be at the 42 Festival to give a talk/workshop in which he will tell readers, fans, illustrators and anyone else interested all about the secrets of his art, paying special attention to the particular challenges of visually portraying a dragon. Under his guidance, the head, the scales, the composition, the colour, the fantasy codes, the atmosphere, the vibrancy and other elements will take flight, with the aforementioned exhibition of many of his works, in what will undoubtedly be one of the star Saturday evening sessions.
