THE MIRRORS OF MICHAEL ENDE
This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of Momo, the classic by Michael Ende which tells the story of a girl with the wonderful quality of making anyone who listens to her feel good. The year 2024 also marks the forty-fifth anniversary of the first publication of The Neverending Story, the author's masterpiece, an unforgettable story of adventures for enjoying, sharing and letting your imagination soar. Given the fact that these two milestones are dovetailing, the third edition of Festival 42 is holding an exhibition to pay homage to Michael Ende. This survey of his literary career and the keys to his works is curated by the journalism professor Joaquim Noguero. During the round table prior to the show's opening, Noguero will talk with Michi Strausfeld, who is in charge of the legendary children's and young adult collections at Afaguara and Siruela, and Ende's editor, and Josep-Francesc Delgado, an Ende scholar and the author of the book El món de Michael Ende: vida, obra i antroposofia (Pagès, 2017), and the writer Sofía Rhei, who is not only an admirer of Ende’s work, but also has participated in the anthology Ende Interminable. At the end of the roundtable there will be a guided visit to the exhibition.
*Activity organised in conjunction with the IBBYCAT-CLIJCAT and Biblioteques de Barcelona.
