Miquel de Palol
Miquel de Palol (Barcelona, 1953) lived in Valladolid until he was 17 and then returned to his native city to study architecture, although he began his literary career as a poet soon afterwards. In 1989, he published his first novel, El jardí dels set crepuscles (Columna, published by Anagrama in Spanish), which was a great success with both critics and the general public. Although he is an architect by training, he has concentrated on the field of literature, where he has earned a number of awards for his poetry as well as his short stories and novels. He has also contributed to various media outlets, including El País, La Vanguardia, El Mundo, El Urogallo and Serra d’Or, and he is a member of the Association of Catalan Language Writers (AELC) and the Catalan PEN. In 1998, he received the Rosalia de Castro Award for his career. His latest novel, Boötes (Navona), is a monumental allegory on the fate of humanity.
