Primrose tree

Passatge de Martras, 26

Observations: No other specimen of primrose tree – there are not more than half a dozen planted in the city’s gardens- has developed as well and as harmoniously as this specimen standing in the Teatre Grec. Native to the far away Norfolk Island, thousands of pink flowers cover the whole tree when it comes into bloom, similar to the mallow, which are from the same family. It is a surprising phenomenon, because in this country it is only possible to see similar flowers on small shrubs in deserted areas or at roadsides. This tree is of notable botanical and landscape interest.
