Barcelona is revamping a project that was drafted in 2009 but which never gained approval, with an estimated budget of more than 1,000 million euros. The design includes 6 kilometres of tunnel from the future station of Parc Logístic (L9) as far as Poble-sec (L3), with 6 new stations: Poble-sec, MNAC, INEFC, Foc (interchange with L10 sud); Fira (L9 sud) and Parc Logístic (L9 sud).

The agreement also includes the creation of transport nodes in the city. Such as the connection between La Sagrera high-speed rail station and the L4, or the establishment of an inter-urban bus station. The station in Plaça Espanya will be the first of these large inter-modal terminals.

Homes with official protection

The two administrations have also addressed the latest housing initiatives, with the construction of 1,764 officially protected homes. Of these, 1,151 will be built by the Barcelona Municipal Institute for Housing and Renovation (IMHAB), with the Government of Catalonia contributing 22 million euros.
